The Cybermen silver, indestructible monsters whose only goal is power. Once they were like us, until the quest for perfection drove them to slowly replace everything until they had no feelings, no soul. Whatever humanity is left in them only serves to drive their quest for conquest and for new, unwilling recruits. Resistance is useless, you will become like them.
This was cybernetics before Terminator, cyborgs long before Picard faced assimilation, the Cybermen may always be pinned as second fiddle to the ever conquering daleks, but to many they are the most chilling and effective Doctor Who villain.
They first met the Doctor back in 1966, as the first incarnation of the Doctor, William Hartnell, introduced incredulous viewers to the concept of regeneration. Shown here in their drastic yet utterly effective 1980's re-imagining, (first revealed in the apocalyptic adventure Earthshock), the Cyberman joins the limited edition Doctor Who range.
